Explanation: MPLS compliments IP technology. It is designed to leverage the intelligence associated with IP Routing, and the Switching paradigm associated with Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM). MPLS consists of a Control Plane and a Forwarding Plane. The Control Plane builds what is called a "Forwarding Table," while the Forwarding Plane forwards packets to the appropriate interface (based on the Forwarding Table).
